BRIAN’S QUOTE OF THE DAY

Brian on Ted Cruz’s “Fake Filibuster”: “I don’t think it was necessary.  I think it was overkill and I think it insults everybody that fought for two and a half years against the bill that is now a law.”

HOUR ONE

Brian’s co-hosts on FOX & Friends ELISABETH HASSELBECK AND STEVE DOOCY stopped by!  Hasselbeck talked about her assimilation to the morning show and what the past week and a half has been like for her.  “You guys have been phenomenal at just getting me acquainted here,” Hasselbeck said.  “After doing one thing for ten years, to make a switch, obviously there’s learning curve there and you guys have made it really easy.  So I want to officially thank you for that.”

Doocy then expressed his disappointment at the new situation: “I figured I had a shot at being the blond… Now she’s “the blonde” and I’m just the backup blond.” “At least you’re a natural blond,” Hasselbeck replied, to which Doocy asked about her real hair color, “Are you a ginger?”

HOUR TWO

After going on a tangent about his many portrayals on Saturday Night Live, FOX News Sunday host CHRIS WALLACE talked to Brian about Ted Cruz. Wallace was not as harsh a critic on Cruz’s “fake filibuster” as Brian was. He also said that he thinks the majority of the pressure should be on the red state Democrats instead of the Republican Senators.  “The pressure should be on them create a campaign issue for 2014,” Wallace explained.

JEFF BENEDICT, author of The System: The Glory and Scandal of Big-Time College Football, talked about the investigative reporting behind his new book.  He explained that there were many universities such as Ohio State or Tennessee that did not let him investigate.  “It just took some time to develop some trust with them,” Benedict explained.  Once trust was established, he would follow coaches everywhere; “in the huddle, in the locker room, in the coaches meetings,” to see how they “tick.”

HOUR THREE

FOX News Correspondent SHANNON BREAM talked to Brian about the impending government shutdown.  Bream said she is hearing that a lot of viewers actually want the government to shut down so they can see what it feels like for a few weeks.  “60 percent of federal employees are still going to show up if the federal government shuts down,” she stated.

FOX News Anchor GRETCHEN CARLSON stopped by and revealed the name and start date of her new show!  The Real Story with Gretchen Carlson will premiere this coming Monday, September 30th at 2 PM EST. “It’s going to be really interview-driven, you know that I love to do that,” she explained, “I just wanted to let people know that everyone’s welcome and that I want it to be authentic and genuine and real and appealing to all people across the country from coast-to-coast.”

Actor and Comedian RAY ROMANO and his brother, RICH ROMANO, talked to Brian about their newest venture, The Investigator.  The story is about a sergeant, which is based on Rich’s 20 years as a sergeant in the NYPD.  “It’s based on a series of events that happened to me,” Rich explained, “I wanted to tell a story of hope and redemption.”
