BRIAN’S QUOTE OF THE DAY

Brian on Crossing the Red Line: “Why now? Why this type of response? Why can’t anybody in the Democratic Party seemingly go to bat for the President? I mean, you can’t find Nancy Pelosi fighting for him. Harry Reid’s not fighting for him. His own grassroots organization’s not fighting for him!”

New York Post Columnist MICHAEL GOODWIN sounded off about Obama. “I think what President Obama has now more than anything else is a deficit of trust.  People feel that the government doesn’t really care about them, that it only cares about itself. And so when it comes to something like Syria, which is really in the national interest, the country cannot mobilize because it doesn’t trust the government anymore,” Goodwin said.

MAJOR GENERAL PAUL VALLELY, Chairman for Stand Up America, talked to Brian about the Free Syrian Army.  Major General Vallely explained that the Free Syrian Army was created by a number of officers under Assad who defected to form an organization that would protect the people against the tyrannical government.  “It was motivated by people that wanted to change the government to a freer state,” he explained.

HOUR TWO

The Washington Post’s DAVID IGNATIUS was shocked by Syrian President Assad’s comments where he threatened terrorism.  Ignatius said, “I thought that little quip was unbelievable.  The leader of a sovereign nation in that shy little voice essentially threatening terrorism…by groups outside the control of the state is shocking, people should see that for what it is.  It is unacceptable to do that.”

WILLIAM MARTEL, author of Victory in War: Foundations of Modern Strategy, talked about his strategy in Syria.  Martel said that we should not take a regime change off the table: “To me the strategy is we go after the leadership.  We make it clear to Assad – any day, any time, maybe now, maybe never – he could be the subject of an attack; and I think we want to make this personal.”

HOUR THREE

White House Correspondent ED HENRY talked to Brian about the effects of the G20 Summit.  He said that nothing came out of Obama’s trip mainly because of host Vladimir Putin’s bias towards Syria.  Henry also agreed with Harry Reid’s former Chief of Staff, Jim Manley, in thinking that the President should have sent Biden to Sweden and the G20 Summit instead.

JAMES ROSEN, Chief Washington Correspondent, talked to Brian about a possible “Plan C,” which would save the President from losing the Congressional vote.  Rosen said we are seeing alternative resolutions drawn out by Senators and Congressmen, but none of them have been endorsed by the Obama administration yet.  “The attempt is to create a new resolution and new language that would essentially give Assad a kind of 45 to 90-day ultimatum to turn over these weapons, and thereby avert U.S. Military strikes.”
