LOOKING BEYOND THE MEDIA MIRROR – Bob Dotson, reporting legend and author of American Story, A Lifetime Search for Ordinary People Doing Extraordinary Things, talked to Brian about the “blueprint” behind his book. Dotson explained that his objective 
was to, “look behind that media mirror that’s always reflecting power and cultural pop, and say ‘what’s going on back there? What did these people do?’”
He went onto say that by looking at what goes on between the lights and cameras, you are able to see beyond the conceit of power and money. Dotson said his biggest source for stories is his viewers that have followed his career. “They kind of get the rhythm of what I’m looking for,” he explained, “They tell me the story behind the story.”
