Those who don't have children cannot begin to imagine the primordial obsession with protecting one's children from any and all harm.

It is the instinct that would literally lead a parent to take a bullet or step in front of a train to protect and defend their children, at all costs.

We should all be concerned with America's children and their safety. But I believe that only a parent can truly feel that sickening feeling that eats away at your soul when you even contemplate that there are predators out there that would love to bring harm and misery and even death to your children.

A missing child announcement on the freeway billboards always fill me with sadness and dread.

There is an abduction case in California that is getting national attention this week.

Jaycee Lee Dugard was 11-years-old when she was taken from her school bus stop in South Lake Tahoe back in 1991.

A convicted sex offender, Phillip Garrido, kept her prisoner all these years in a well hidden compound in his backyard. He kidnapped this innocent child and kept her a prisoner. He raped her and fathered two children with her. The daughters, 11 and 15, have been held captive along with Jaycee in this monster's prison.

Garrido and his wife, Nancy, are in jail now.

That is the good news.  The bad news is, Jaycee had her life STOLEN from her when she was 11-years-old. She may have had the normal dreams of having children and a family like most of us do. But her daughters were brought into this world in the most nightmarish of ways and raised in the most unfathomable circumstances.

I thank God that she was found alive.

But I curse the foolish and (in my opinion) criminal individuals who would let a maniac like this out of prison to begin with.

Oh! Did I forget to mention that inconvenient little fact?

That Phillip Garrido was already safely locked away from society back in 1971 for...RAPE AND KIDNAPPING.

Did you hear what I should said??

This filthy creature was LOCKED AWAY back in the year I was BORN...for IDENTICAL CRIMES.

But compassionate fools (who should be held accountable in my opinion) let this maniac free. He got lifetime parole.

Maybe we should lock him up for a few years (or months or weeks) and then PAROLE HIM AGAIN!!

Then maybe he could find someone else's daughter to abduct! Isn't it a wonderful justice system we have??

I want answers. I want those idiots on the parole board who let Garrido out to EXPLAIN THEMSELVES. I want them to PAY in some way. I want THEM to pay for the medical and psychological care that Jaycee and her daughters will no doubt need for a very long time, if not the rest of their lives.

And I want Garrido and his horrible wife to rot in prison.

Forever this time.
