Heavier Security Expected in Nation’s Capital

Security is always heavy in our nation’s capital, but it’s being ramped up even more for the Fourth of July.

    FOX’s Gary Baumgarten reports:

The National Mall is expected to be jammed, as it usually is for the concert and fireworks display on the fourth.

But this year, cops are putting barricades around the mall. People will only enter at designated spots. And everyone will have to go through a complete security check.

Even with all of this police are asking for the public’s help:

(Murphy) “If they see something, say something. Whether you think its suspicious, out of the ordinary, or just doesn’t feel right, please notify one of the uniform personnel working the event.”

That’s U.S. Park’s Police Lt. Jim Murphy, who says this year they’re prohibiting the flying of drones during the concert and fireworks.
