California Sues Over Pelvic Mesh Devices

California is suing a popular company over complications associated with pelvic mesh devices.

FOX’s Tonya J. Powers has details:

California’s state attorney has filed a lawsuit against Johnson & Johnson over complications associated with its pelvic mesh devices.

It accuses the company of falsely marketing the devices as safe and better option to non-mesh treatments for pelvic floor disorders.

The suit says Johnson and Johnson knew the could cause pain, bleeding, loss of sexual function and other side effects.

The Food and Drug Administration says it has gotten thousands of reports of complications in connection with mesh used to treat pelvic organ prolapse.

Johnson & Johnson calls the suit “unjustified” and says it could discourage women from getting help for incontinence symptoms.
