Senate Hits North Korea With New Sanctions

In the aftermath of new weapons testing, the U.S. Senate slaps fresh sanctions on North Korea.

FOX’s Jared Halpern has more from Capitol Hill:

Unanimous approval for a bill adding more stringent sanctions on the North Korean regime, targeting the Pyongyang’s ability to finance development of nuclear war heads and long-range missiles.

The package also approves $50-million in spending to transmit radio broadcasts into North Korea, purchase communications equipment and increase humanitarian assistance.

The 96-0 included ayes from Republican presidential hopefuls Ted Cruz and Marco Rubio, both leaving the South Carolina stump to vote.

Similar legislation has already cleared the House.
