Republican Lawmaker Seeks Answers From Kerry Over Iran Payment

Republicans in Congress want answers from the Secretary of State on a $1.7 billion dollar payment to Iran.

FOX’s Rachel Sutherland reports from Washington:

Some Republicans are describing the payment as a ransom tied to the release of five American prisoners last month. California Congressman Ed Royce wrote a letter to Secretary of State John Kerry, complaining the House Foreign Relations Committee was not consulted about the settlement. The White House says the agreement was made to settle a dispute with Iran dating back to 1979 about $400 million dollars in frozen funds and that the remaining $1.3 billion was an interest payment.
