Iowa GOP Cancels Straw Poll

There are a lot of Republicans running for president and more will enter the race soon. Yet in Iowa, they’re having trouble getting them interested in an early contest.

FOX News Radio’s Steve Taylor reports:

Historically, the Iowa Straw Poll has gotten a lot of national media attention, and so most candidates competed.

But four years ago, Congresswoman Michele Bachmann won the straw poll and then finished sixth in the statewide caucuses the following January.

This year, at least four potential candidates have said they wouldn’t enter the Straw Poll… Jeb Bush, Marco Rubio, Mike Huckabee and Rick Santorum, citing the cost of running verses the potential benefits of winning.

So now, the state party has cancelled this summer’s Poll.
