5 People Found Dead in Burning AZ SUV

Five bodies – burned beyond recognition – were found inside the shell of a charred sports utility vehicle in the Arizona desert over the weekend.

FOX News Radio’s Sal Giangrasso reports:

Police say the case is probably connected to drug cartel violence in a part of Arizona only 70 miles from the U.S.-Mexico border.

(Babeu) “It’s likely one of three scenarios: Either these people were killed and transported out there to torch the vehicle to try to destroy evidence; or they were transported out there alive, and then murdered and put in the vehicle; or they were burnt alive.

…Pinal County Sheriff Paul Babeu.  The case started early Saturday, when a white Ford Expedition was spotted by a Border Patrol agent, and then disappeared despite efforts by Federal and local authorities to track it down.
