Congress Keeps Indefinite Detentions

Detentions of certain domestic terror suspects won’t be stopping anytime soon. Congress failing to pass a measure that would have halted them.

Some Democrats and Tea Party Republicans tried to end the post 9/11 authorization that allows the indefinite detention without trial of terror suspects and stop mandatory military custody. Congressman Adam Smith, a Democrat from the state of Washington led the argument on ending that policy.

Smith “Just because the Government arrests you, doesn’t mean you’re guilty. Under their thinking, basically once the Government says you’re a terrorist, you’re a terrorist.”

The amendment by Smith and Republican Justin Amash, failed 238 to 182. Opponents argued it would weaken national security, and would be too easy on terrorists.

    And on another hand, red tape keeps terrorists walking the streets without VISAs, so they can't be kicked out, because they have nowhere to be sent. Really? Why is that? The ocean is free territory.
