TSA Admits Strip Search Error
Transportation Safety Administraton officials are doing an about-face, and now admitting TSA screeners overstepped their bounds in the searches of two elderly women at New York’s JFK Airport in December.
FOX News Radio’s Jeff Monosso has details:
85-year-old Lenore Zimmerman said she was taken to a TSA screening room at JFK Airport and humiliated.
(Zimmerman) “She says well you pull your pants down please, and then she pulled my underwear down and strip searched me.”
89-year-old Ruth Sherman says she was forced to pull her pants down too, so screeners could see her colostomy bag.
(Sherman) “I felt like I was nobody. I felt like, I felt like they slipped me of my whole existence.”
But after insisting its agents followed guidelines, the TSA now admits screeners violated procedure, and they’ve issued an apology. Though they still say the women took off their clothes voluntarily.
Zimmerman and Sherman call that a lie. And Zimmerman is suing the TSA.
