Paul Ryan on Meeting with Donald Trump: “Don’t Want Us to Have a Fake Unification Process”

He still hasn’t endorsed the likely Republican nominee, but House Speaker Paul Ryan says he’s very encouraged after a morning discussion with Donald Trump.

FOX’s Jared Halpern has more from Capitol Hill:

Donald Trump and House Speaker Paul Ryan attempted to be literally on the same page after a morning meeting, issuing a joint-statement focusing on shared principles and common ground, but Ryan says there’s still work to do:

(Ryan) “I don’t want us to have a fake unification process here. I want to make sure that we really, truly understand each other.”

So, Ryan still stopped short of endorsing the presumptive Republican nominee, not a big deal says Trump-backer New York congressman Lee Zeldin:

(Zeldin) “Instead of the hypothetical of what happens if they don’t work it out, I really do believe that they will.”

Zeldin predicts a unified front at the July convention.
