Brazilian Soccer Great Rivaldo Says Tourists are Putting Their Life at Risk in Rio

Another worry for those planning to Rio for this Summer’s Olympics.

FOX’s Chris Hoenig reports:

You are putting your life at risk. That warning from a top Brazilian athlete to tourists ahead of this Summer’s Olympics.

Brazilian soccer great Rivaldo says the endemic violence in the country is reason enough to stay away from this August’s games in Rio. His comments coming in an Instagram post following the murder of a 17-year-old girl on a highway near the city’s airport on Saturday.

Rivaldo currently lives in the United States, but is best known for leading Brazil to the 2002 World Cup title.

Violence is just one obstacle organizers face ahead of the games, with water pollution, political corruption, security budget cuts, poor ticket sales and the threat of the Zika virus also looming.
