Martin Truex Jr. Looks to Rebound from Second Place Finish at Daytona

After one of the greatest finishes in Daytona 500 history, NASCAR fans could be in store for another thrilling finish as teams head to the “Peach State” to race at Atlanta Motor Speedway this Sunday.

FOX’s Marghiee Teshineh gives you the lowdown in this week’s “FOX in the Fast Lane.”:

Last week’s second place finish at the Daytona 500 has Martin Truex Jr. feeling confident heading into Atlanta, the 78 Toyota team believing momentum is on their side:

(Truex Jr.) “We’re looking forward to Atlanta, absolutely, I think it’s going to be an incredible race. I think the cars are gonna be a real handful, it’s going to be exciting. I’m looking forward to honestly kicking off that part of the season and getting to work and seeing how our cars are and where we stack up to the competition.”

But team Truex was put on notice this week as crew chief Cole Pearn was placed on probation for the remainder of the year for actions detrimental to stock car racing.

The nominees for the 2017 NASCAR Hall of Fame were announced on Wednesday. Five new names have been added to the list of 20, as longtime owner Jack Roush and four-time Truck Series champ Ron Hornaday highlight this year’s “rookie class.” Voting for the class of 2017 will take place in May.
