Curbing ‘Selfies’ At Cannes

The prestigious Cannes Film Festival begins in France Wednesday. But, the man in charge isn’t happy about the latest trend to hit the red carpet.

Fox News Radio’s Simon Owen reports from the European bureau.

Thierry Fremaux calls selfies, grotesque.

(Fremaux) “I think it’s a ridiculous practice.”

The director of the Cannes Film Festival has no time for movie stars — or anyone else for that matter — dawdling on his red carpet.

(Fremaux) “We have 2,200 people entering in the main theater and if every one of them makes three stops to make a photo of himself, I mean, the process is very slow and the film could be late.”

Fremaux has decided against banning selfies. But, is issuing a polite request to keep things moving.
