BRIAN’S OPENING THOUGHTS

President Obama claimed he has “bent over backwards to work with Republicans” yesterday on CNBC.  Here is Brian’s reaction:

“…extortion, blackmail, suicide bomber, this is what is coming out of the White House from key advisors and from the President…these are some of the phrases that he says are calm, cool and collected.  Now he does have a super cool persona, I get that.  What he also has is a partisan gene in him that never gives up and never stops!”

HOUR ONE

“Why would we want to do that?!”  ~ Brian and STEVE DOOCY had some fun reacting to Sen. Harry Reid’s comment where he questioned why they would want to help one child.  Brian and Steve recapped some of the other crazy things Sen. Reid has said over the past year and Brian even offered up a dramatic reading of Reid’s tweet.

HOUR TWO

Brian got an inspiring visit from famed Pastor Joel Osteen of Lakewood Church in Houston TX, the largest and one of the most diverse churches in the U.S. The widely popular pastor and best-selling author, whose new book is Break Out! 5 Keys to go Beyond your Barriers and Live an Extraordinary Life,” sat down with Brian to reveal how we can positively impact our lives by changing our attitudes, letting nothing hold us back and trusting in God’s plan.  He says it’s important to reject labels that might limit us and we need to let our first break-out occur within our own minds:  “When you break though in your mind, believing you can rise higher and overcome obstacles, then God will unleash the power within that will enable you to go beyond the ordinary into the extraordinary life you were designed to live.”

Michael Barone, senior political analyst for the Washington Examiner and author of Shaping Our Nation: How Surges of Migration Transformed America and It’s Politics, joined Brian in studio! Barone thinks a lot of Republicans don’t realize   the position of the Democrats is actually a win for the Republicans because they are talking about continuing the sequester level of spending which means a decrease in domestic discretionary spending.  It is actually holding down spending when you have a democratic President and a democratic Senate that put republicans ahead on policy.

HOUR THREE

Brian was joined by a “man who never disappoints,” Erick Erickson from RedState.com.  Brian asked Erick about Krauthammer’s theory to let Obamacare role out and be a disaster.  Erick responded by saying, “That presumes that the very same media who have refused to tell any of the horror stories about people losing their jobs because of Obamacare would tell the horror stories of people applying for Obamacare.  In fact, the headlines from the NYTs on Tuesday morning was that it was such a successful launch that the websites crashed!”

Brian was also treated today with a visit from the lovely Melissa Gorga, star of ‘Real Housewives of New Jersey.’  She talked with Brian about her new book, “Love Italian Style: How to Keep a Hot & Happy Marriage.’   Melissa, who married her husband Joe Gorga at 25 years-old and has been married for 9 years now , provided tips on how to keep your marriage fresh and exciting . “Marriage is maintenance, it’s not easy, it’s hard work to have a great marriage and a lot of people don’t see that. One of the keys is to treat your husband like a King, if you treat him like a King, you’re going to be his Queen, he’s going to give you the love you need, he’ll give you those compliments, he’s going to want to do things for you because he’s happy and content.”

Melissa also stressed the importance of flirting; “You need to continue to flirt with each other, people get too comfortable and stop that flirty, playing hard-to-get tease, and we are all human and like to be flirted with.”

Brian also spoke with Rep. Adam Smith (D-WA), ranking Member on the House Armed Services Committee, about the government shutdown. Smith sounded off on the Republicans tactics, “In terms of government spending, they’ve won.” He added “We have already negotiated down to a spending level that is far below what most Democrats wanted.”  He told Brian that Republicans basically got what they wanted on the budget and said “Hey, maybe we can leverage the threat to shut down the government. And by the way, the debt ceiling is coming up too, maybe they can leverage that too to advance the conservative agenda that the Democrats don’t agree with but they can’t win through the normal constitutional process.” On the issue of sequester Smith said, the only reason they did sequester in the first place is because Republicans refused to raise the debt ceiling; “ I’ve come out and said that we need to raise taxes and cut entitlements but not raising the debt ceiling does not get us to a fiscally responsible place.”
