George Washington’s Whiskey to Go on Sale

    Washington Whiskey

George Washington: Revolutionary War General, first President of the United States, shrewd businessman…and liquor connoisseur?  Apparently so, and you can get in on it.

FOX News Radio’s Chris Hoenig explains:

Many say the older the whiskey, the better.  So how about 250 years old?  In this case, the whiskey isn’t that old, but the recipe is – and it’s George Washington’s personal recipe.  Beginning next Thursday, Mount Vernon is selling 1,100 bottles of unaged whiskey from the first President – and local distiller’s – own recipe.

(Bashore) “Most distillers might run one or two stills, George Washington builds a distillery with five stills.”

Steve Bashore manages the Gristmill & Distillery at Mount Vernon.  Each bottle will set you back $95.

The distillery opens for tours on Saturday.
