Confirmation hearings held today for the former Senator who could become Defense Secretary. So far Chuck Hagel is some facing criticism, led by fellow Republicans.
FOX News Radio’s Jared Halpern reports from Capitol Hill:
If confirmed, Chuck Hagel would be the first former enlisted service member to rise to the rank of Defense Secretary, but critics say it’s the former Nebraska Republican’s record as a Senator that’s troubling.
(Inhofe) “We’re too philosophically opposed on the pressing issues facing our country.”
Armed Services Committee ranking Republican James Inhofe signaling a no vote, citing Hagel’s votes against Iran sanctions and opposition to the Iraq troop surge.
(Hagel) “No one individual vote, no one individual quote, no one individual statement defines me.”
Hagel says he believes all options should be on the table to prevent Iran from obtaining a nuclear weapon.
