A young child remains the victim of a hostage situation in Midland City, in Dale County Alabama.
FOX News Radio's Courtney Kealy reports:
The situation started Tuesday afternoon when a man abducted a six-year-old from a school bus after fatally wounding the bus driver.
One student aboard the bus described the scene.
(Student) "He started telling him he needed a kid because something about the law coming after him and then he shot the bus driver."
The Dale County Sheriff's Office has identified the bus driver as 66-year-old Charles Albert Poland Jr., who worked with the local Board of Education since 2009.
The shooter is holed up with the child in an underground bunker surrounded by local police, FBI and a SWAT team.
Authorities communicating with the suspect via a pc pipe say the child is 'okay' but the situation remains 'delicate'.
