MA Student, 5, Warned Over Lego Gun
Playtime in school turns problematic for a five-year-old boy in Massachusetts who made a toy gun out of Legos.
FOX News Radio’s Steve Rappoport reports:
Audio clip:
At his after school program, Joseph Cardosa put two Lego pieces together, forming the shape of a gun.
(Cardosa) “We were just walking around. And then he was just like ‘no, no, don’t shoot me’. And we were just pretending.”
But officials at Hyannis West Elementary School weren’t playing around when they sent Joseph’s parents a letter saying their son acted inappropriately. One more incident could result in suspension.
Joseph’s mother Sheila Cruz thinks the school went too far.
(Cruz) “When I was a kid, I mean we could play like that and it wasn’t a big deal.”
But the principal says the letter is part of the school’s policy to provide a safe environment.

Have you ever seen a 5 year old boy at play. There is absolutely nothing that a 5 year old boy cannot pretend is a gun. A stick, a rock, a hair pin, a desk, anything.
Have you ever tried to stop a 5 year old boy from pretending to turn a stick into a weapon of some sort?
Have these teachers ever tried to actually teach a 5 year old how to be responsible with how they pretend. Threatening a child with expulsion for using his imagination in school is ridiculous.
Try teaching him how to play responsibly with his toys. Teach him to hunt tigers or something to defend his playmates from natural threats, don't threaten him!

That kid could've also made an L shape with those legos. It's just like that school that freaked out just because a girl's torn paper shape resembled a "gun". Then that girl's mom decided to homeschool her instead to avoid her being humiliated there. School officials are starting to sound like TSA guards.

schools are going too far these days. I understand the safety concerns involved however, our kids need to be allowed to be kids. due to the stupidity and evilness of some, we are victimizing a whole generation of innocent children.
