Countdown to the End of the World

The Mayan calendar ends one week from today, on Friday, December 21, leading some to believe the end of the world is near.

FOX News Radio’s Jeff Monosso reports from New York City:

This is the last full weekend we’ll ever have, according to some interpretations of the Mayan calendar.  So what do we do?

(New Yorker) “Couple shots of tequila and chill.”

That’s this New Yorker’s plan, but others around the globe are scrambling to prepare for an apocalypse – from building arks in China, to hiding out in Serbian mountains, to hoarding supplies.

(New Yorker) “If they feel safe doing that, then, I mean, you know, I guess that’s what they’ve got to do.”

Come to think of it, those of us in New York and New Jersey probably should gas up.  But fears of an apocalypse for some are very real.

(New Yorkers) “Keep the faith!” // “Good luck, I hope they’re wrong and we’re very, very right.”

For as many experts who believe the end is near, there are just as many experts who don’t.

    I am so afraid. I've been having dreams and day dreams about it a lot . Like everyday and night. What can I do but pray? And ask my father to forgive me and to forgive this world. And if it doesn't end I will kno he spared my life .praise God!

    Yep… I think I'll believe the bible and my Heavenly Father. He's never steered me wrong before. And those that fear the end, truly do have something to fear because they obviously aren't believers. Pray for those that are lost and be thankful for salvation. The end will come someday… but it will not be a predicted day. That is clear.

    theres no god who will determine the end of days ,people,be logical here….we're already destroying the planet ourselves, it'll be a long countdown to the end of the world, NOT tomorrow, and probably the only reason the Mayans calendar stopped on that date is because they ran out of chisels or decided it'd be a funny practical joke on us, lol. NO ONE knows when we'll die, it just happens, and NOT all at once in fire and brimstone. Nonsense.

    Russian President Vladimir Putin ruled out that the world will end this week, as predicted by Mayans, saying he did not expect the end for another 4.5 billion years.

    I agree. Nothing to worry about. The earth will be here for millions of years to come. Our fate will be like the dinosaurs when we go.
