College Station Police say a gunman opened fire, killing two people and injuring several others, near the campus of Texas A&M University. Among the dead are a 65-year-old male civilian and Brazos County Constable Brian Bachmann. A police spokesman says a College Station police officer was shot in the leg and a female civilian was also wounded. Both were taken to the hospital, along with two other police officers who suffered injuries.
The gunman was shot and taken into custody. He was later pronounced dead. Police say the Constable was evicting the gunman when he opened fire. It is common practice in Texas for Constables to evict tenants.
