Authorities in Alabama are looking for clues, trying to identify a possible serial arsonist.  At least 14 abandoned homes or businesses have been destroyed since Thursday night.

FOX News Radio’s Chris Hoenig has details:

More than a dozen buildings have burned in Birmingham since Thursday night.

(Johnson) “There is really a sense of fear among people around here.”

…Fear that a serial arsonist is on the loose.  Residents like Eric Johnson keep on constant watch.

(Johnson) “Not knowing where the person’s at, where they’re gonna strike.”

And while Fire Chief C.W. Mardis says the arsonist has targeted vacant buildings…

(Mardis) “Our main concern is the exposures in the houses next to and behind those structures.  They can catch on fire, also.”

Authorities believe all the fires are the work of the same arsonist, and Johnson says he won’t sleep comfortably until the culprit is caught.

(Johnson) “It’s a senseless act.  Obviously, the person needs help.”
