North Carolina voters approve a stronger ban on gay marriage.
FOX News Radio's Rich Johnson reports:
It was a solid win for Amendment One: 61% to 39%.
(Voter) "We will be placing it in the safety of our Constitution, where it will be safe from the whims of state judges."
The Amendment goes beyond gay marriage. It also bans domestic unions from carrying any kind of legal status.
(Voter) "I thought better of North Carolina voters. I thought they were more progressive than the rest of the South."
Now, opponents are planning protests around North Carolina. Same-sex couples going to county courthouses to demand marriage licenses.
