Housecall for Health: Asthma Rates Increasing
Millions of Americans suffer from a common respiratory disease that doesn’t have a cure…and the number of those inflicted continues to rise.
FOX’s Colleen Cappon reports in today’s “Housecall for Health”:
Audio clip:
U.S. asthma rates are higher than ever. New findings from the CDC show that nearly 30 million people suffer from asthma, including 7 million who are under 18. The government survey finds that even though the rate has increased since 2001, the number of people who die from the condition dropped by 33%.
It’s still not clear how to prevent asthma from developing, and experts say a cure isn’t in sight.
Housecall for Health, I’m Colleen Cappon, FOX News Radio.

The reason there is a rise in asthma attacks is because the new HFA inhalers that we now have to use because the FDA and EPA insist that the CFC propellants that USED to be used in rescue inhalers, can no longer be used because they say it effects the ozone layer ! HAHA, They removed the CFC propellant ( which delivered a more efficient blast of medication that went deep into the lungs, as opposed to the HFA propellant that if you are lucky, goes only into the top part of the lung ) So asthmatics are suffering more then ever because instead of allowing life saving aerosols, the FDA removed CFCs from inhalers that actually save lives and did NOT bother banning spray paint, hair spray, computer cleaners, furniture polish etc !
Everybody wants clean air but NOT at the expense of anyone's health!
I have emailed the FDA many many times now that Primatene inhalers were removed from the shelves AND I have written a few Republican congressman in different states over this mess and the FDA responded by asking me to "imagine how many people use inhalers and the effect that all that exhaling does to the ozone if the CFCs hadn't been removed " , it's nuts ! The FDA and EPA have gone overboard this time. The following link will show you just HOW many people with asthma are now sick and scared without being able to have inhalers that actually work !! http://millionairetips.hubpages.com/hub/What-Happ…
( Primatene was the last hope for asthmatics because A. it was affordable & B. it worked because it had a good propellant ! (CFC) The FDA and EPA should've banned the aerosols that are NOT necessary instead of the ones that are !
You can call any pharmacist and you can contact FDA yourselves, it is a KNOWN fact and they don't deny it, that the new propellants used now in rescue inhalers (HFA) are NOT as effective as the old (CFC) ones NOR powerful enough to reach deep into the lungs when needed !

It's not that asthma is on the rise, it's that the treatment for asthma has changed , and not for the better.

On Wednesday July 18th, the hearing to lift the ban on Primatene Mist until 2013 and allow Armstrong to begin selling it again will be held in Washington, DC. The new version of Primatene is stuck in the FDA awaiting approval. If anyone in the group would like to speak up, please email me and I will forward your contact info to (fmr) Rep. Bart Stupak (D-MI). He and his team believe in our cause and understand what has happened to all of us who depended on it and will fight for us. Thanx…
