Headphone-Related Deaths on the Rise
Walking while wearing headphones could be a deadly combination. New research finding that headphone usage is responsible for the fatality rate of pedestrians increasing.
FOX News Radio’s Courtney Kealy reports:
New research from the University of Maryland finding that over the course of six years, rates of pedestrian fatalities have tripled. Researchers say it’s because of the increased popularity of iPods and earphones.
(Lichtenstein)”People love their music and love to listen to their music in every place possible.”
Dr. Richard Lichtenstein of the University of Maryland’s Hospital for Children in Baltimore led the research. The study says the number of pedestrians who have been killed or seriously injured while wearing headphones has risen from 16 in 2004 to 47 in 2011.
