It’s a plan to get faster internet to more people, and create jobs doing it.

FOX News Radio’s Chris Foster has the story in this FOX on Tech report:

There’s an eight billion dollar fund to subsidize telephone service to rural areas, and to people who can’t afford it.  That money’s being re-directed to broadband internet service. It comes from a surcharge on customers’ monthly bills; that will stay the same or go down for most people, according to FCC Chairman Julius Genakowski, who says the program will bring high speed internet to around seven million people and provide a half-million jobs, to do it.
