An undocumented immigrant has been arrested for the murder of a 20-year-old University of Iowa college student. President Trump and other Republican lawmakers are blaming the tragedy on the nation's immigration laws. Cristhian Rivera, the suspected killer of Mollie Tibbetts, made his first court appearance just minutes after Tibbetts' family members broke their silence about the death of their daughter.

The Tibbetts Family statement saying, "Our hearts are broken. On behalf of Mollie's entire family, we thank all of those from around the world who have sent their thoughts and prayers for our girl."

Todd Starnes began a recent show explaining why politicians in Washington share some responsibility for Mollie Tibbetts' death.

"Iowa Governor Kim Reynolds said it best: Mollie Tibbetts is dead because of our broken immigration system. Just let that sink in for just a moment. Another American family suffering today, their lives changed forever because the Republicans and the Democrats on Capitol Hill did not have the moral courage or fortitude to secure the border and to crack down on illegal immigration. What happened to this family is unacceptable," Starnes said.
