At the House Republican leadership press conference Wednesday Cathy McMorris Rodgers highlighted the ways Americans are "Better Off Now."  Rodgers stated,

"Republicans have kept our promises. People are optimistic again. They can buy a new house; they can start a family; they can expand their businesses. In this booming economy, Americans have hope and confidence again."

House Republican Conference Chair Cathy McMorris Rodgers joined Fox News Radio's Guy Benson to discuss the #BetterOffNow agenda and how she feels Republicans have delivered results for the American people.

On the economy and #BetterOffNow: Well #BetterOffNow is building upon the Better Way agenda that we had rolled out two years ago. This is the Republicans keeping our promise to the American people and the question that people are asking is, 'Am I better off now?' and when you look at these numbers it's really impressive.  (1:02)

On Democrats pivoting from economy to healthcare: Well, just like the Democrats got it wrong on tax reform, Nancy Pelosi said, 'It would be Armageddon. It was pathetic. This going to be crum.' Now they're saying they'll do away with the tax cuts. That would be individuals would have their taxes go up on average $2,000. Obamacare, the Affordable Care Act, has not fulfilled the promises that were made.  (4:03)

On immigration bills in the House: We were talking with our members before the July 4th week and we're continuing to talk to our members about it. We are not going to introduce anything until we reach a way forward with the administration, the House and Senate and we need that agreement.  (7:05)

On the Senate bill about tariffs: I come from a district that's dominated by agriculture. It is the number one industry and as I talk with my colleagues there's a lot of members that are concerned about the impact of the tariffs because of where it leads on a trade war and whether it's agriculture or other producers in American who will be losing markets that takes decades at times to develop. So,  I'm looking at this looking very closely, as well as a lot of my colleagues as for what is the appropriate action for congress to be taking.  I applaud the president for going after China. On Kavanaugh as the nominee: I support his nomination. I am pleased. I'm excited that we have an opportunity to appoint someone and the nominee is someone is going to uphold the Constitution. That's what I want to see.  (11:14)
