Uninvited! President Trump on Monday abruptly rescinded an invitation to host the Eagles at the White House, citing the "smaller delegation" that was planning to attend and again stoking a national debate by insisting that players "proudly stand for the National Anthem, hand on heart." "The Philadelphia Eagles are unable to come to the White House with their full team to be celebrated tomorrow," Trump said in a statement released late Monday. "They disagree with their President because he insists that they proudly stand for the National Anthem, hand on heart, in honor of the great men and women of our military and the people of our country. The Eagles wanted to send a smaller delegation, but the 1,000 fans planning to attend the event deserve better. If the President invites to the White House is it your obligation to show up? Cruel Summer! Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell announced Tuesday that he's canceled the chamber's traditional August recess, citing Democrats' "obstruction" and the need to pass spending bills. In a brief written statement, he said: "Senators should expect to remain in session in August to pass legislation, including appropriations bills, and to make additional progress on the president's nominees." McConnell's announcement had been expected, as he's faced pressure for weeks from fellow Republicans to keep members in session over the hot summer stretch. Their appeal focused on the need to wrap up spending bills and confirm President Trump's nominees to various positions. Guy & Marie talk to Senator John Kennedy (R-LA) who said he is "Damn glad".
