South Carolina State Rep. Mike Pitts caused a stir recently when he proposed a bill in the State House to begin a debate on the state seceding from the United States if the federal government were to legally confiscate firearms.
Rep. Pitts told Starnes that while a vote on secession wouldn't definitely happen as a result of the bill, he came up with the idea "to give us the ability to decide how to react to a direct violation of the Constitution of the United States."

Rep. Pitts also pointed out he wants to protect his legal right to own a gun from an "activist judge that wants to make law instead of interpreting the law," like former Supreme Court Justice John Paul Stevens, who recently wrote an op-ed calling for the repeal of the Second Amendment.
