A former Congressman has pleaded guilty to criminal charges in a sexting case.
FOX’s Tonya J. Powers has the story:
Former New York congressman Anthony Weiner stood in a lower Manhattan courtroom, crying while he apologized to the 15-year-old girl with whom he had exchanged sexually explicit texts, then faced reporters outside:
(Weiner) “We issued a statement, there’s nothing else.”
He pleaded guilty to a charge of transmitting sexual material to a minor. Weiner resigned his house seat in 2011 after accidentally tweeting an explicit photo of himself that he had intended to send to a supporter.
As part of the plea deal, he will have to register as a sex offender and has agreed to not appeal any sentence between 21 and 27 months in prison.
Weiner faces sentencing in September.
