Chris Cornell’s Family Disputes Death by Suicide

Chris Cornell’s family is disputing the death by suicide findings.

FOX’s Michelle Pollino reports:

Chris Cornell’s family has issued a statement regarding the singers death. Vicky Cornell saying, “Chris, a recovering addict, he had a prescription for ativan and may have taken more ativan than recommended.”

The family believes that if Chris took his life, “he did not know what he was doing, and that drugs or other substances may have affected his actions.” The 52-year-old was found dead Thursday in his hotel in Detroit following a Soundgarden concert the previous evening. The cause of death was suicide by hanging.

His wife’s attorney noted that some medical literature indicates that ativan can cause paranoid or suicidal thoughts, slurred speech and impaired judgment.
