Supreme Court Retirement Rumors Arise

The Supreme Court is back to a nine-Justice bench, but already, rumors are swirling about another upcoming vacancy.

FOX’s Jared Halpern has more from Washington:

Retirement rumors are swirling around the Supreme Court and even Senate Judiciary Committee chairman.

Republican Chuck Grassley tells an Iowa newspaper he expects a resignation this summer, though he did not offer a prediction on which Justice may step down. Fellow Republican Judiciary Committee member Ted Cruz has also hinted at a summer retirement announcement from the Court.

Speculation has focused on Justice Anthony Kennedy, long a swing vote, who is now 80-years-old. The newest Justice, Neil Gorsuch, was a law clerk for Justice Kennedy.

Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg is 84-years-old, Justice Stephen Breyer is 78, both of them are considered among the court’s more liberal jurists.
