Are you down in the dumps at work?
You're not alone!
A study of 1,200 workers worldwide finds 1/4 of them are depressed. Why?
"The U.S. Statistical measure of that was only 8 percent. So only 8 percent of the respondents were U.S. citizens and worked in the U.S., so I'm not sure how accurate that is. I will say this though, I think the American workforce in general is more discouraged than it has been in a number of years."
That's Employee Morale Expert Ron Newton speaking with Tony at WHAS in Louisville, Kentucky.
Why do you believe that? Why are they more discouraged now?
"I think there is a sense of helplessness that's in the workplace now that hasn't been there in awhile. It's a helplessness that's based in not feeling like you can influence the future or control the present. I think because of the economic uncertainty that we have right now and businesses are riding the fence of economic viability; that we've got a general 'we can't control our own future' and that is so anti-American, you know, in feeling."
Well that's no good. Chin up, America!
