Radio Buzz: NFL Fan Pat-Downs; General Pressured by White House on Congressional Testimony

The Radio Buzz. The top talk radio stories of the day.

Audio clip:

Pat downs... not just at the airports...

...now --The NFL announcing an "enhanced pat-down procedure"...

As a means to improve fan safety.

"You know - I think every major sporting and social sporting event owes it to their constituents or their patrons to assure their safety or to make every reasonable effort to be safe out there."

Security Expert and Retired FBI Special Agent Gil Torrez - speaking with Scott Fitzgerald at WERC in Birmingham, AL.

The new measures -- will include pat-downs from the ankles up...

"I would say it's probably going to be a rather complete pat-down. It's just going to be a necessary evil."

Better to be safe than sorry, right?

"Right now - with the War on Terror, I think it's only prudent that Government and local officials take a hard stand on this - or take a more proactive stand - but you know - the NFL I think is just being prudent in what they're doing... they have to protect their fans."

What's next? Pat-downs at the mall?

"That may come next. Nobody wants to be - you know Monday morning quarter backing after a horrendous incident - so everybody's being proactive."

Buzzing right along...

A Four Star General - telling House members he was pressured to change prepared Congressional testimony -- by the White House?!?

Why??

"They're trying to fast track this private company that's a major contributor to the Obama administration and the Democratic party - and the General is very concerned that this new technology is going to interfere greatly with the GPS precision technology that we use to keep us safe."

Lt. Col Jeff Addicott - Director for the Center for Terrorism Law at St. Mary's University - speaking with Helen Glover at WHJJ in Providence, RI.

The White House - says this isn't the case...

"This General's not going to lie. I mean - who you going to believe? The General? Or the Obama Administration? Hmm- Let me think about that for a second. The General has nothing to gain. He's already a 4 star General - he's not going to go any higher. And - obviously this is a man of integrity and he's telling it like it is - because he's more concerned with our national security than the Obama Administration getting re-elected."

What happens next, Jeff?

"Hopefully the House Republicans will continue pressuring to try to get to the bottom of this - who exactly pressured him - and maybe we can find out the truth in this regard."
