#Twoppics – On the Campaign Trail: Bachmann, Paul, Perry, Obama, Buses

Twoppics, taking a look at what Twitter's saying on the campaign trail...

Audio clip:

Some of the Republicans campaigning for the party's Presidential nomination are hitting the road.  Michele Bachmann spent Tuesday in South Carolina...

"Before we get started, let's all say "Happy Birthday" to Elvis Presley today! Happy Birthday!"

Whoops, not quite...

"Today is the day that we observe the passing of Elvis Presley, did you know that?"

Yeah, that's more like it.  And in typical Twitter fashion, it didn't take long for the gaffe to become social media fodder, a la @hollyhocks...

The man who finished right behind Bachmann in last weekend's Iowa Straw Poll didn't even have to get out there to be the talk of the internet.  @Kasilofseafood...

and actor Drew Carey...

...say Ron Paul's getting suspiciously little mainstream media coverage.  Paul himself addressed those claims on FOX News Tuesday...

"They don't want to discuss my views, because I think they're frightened by us challenging the status quo and the establishment when it comes to foreign policy, monetary policy, the entitlement system...because my views are quite different."

Rick Perry, meanwhile, is in Iowa, where he took on the issue of the economy...

"Printing more money...to play politics at this time in American history...is almost treacherous...or treasonous."

That's earned a mixed reaction on Twitter.  Rocker Gene Simmons is ready to back Perry...

...though he doesn't appear to have the vote of @marvswife...

Also in Iowa...President Obama...

"I'm excited about the future that you're working towards each and every day.  And it oughta remind us of a simple lesson, it's always a mistake to bet against America.  It's always a mistake to bet against the American worker."

The President on a bus tour of the Midwest, which has naturally drawn both praise and criticism from Tweeps like @linuxdad...

and @iggyaa...

And speaking of those buses...
