Controversy in San Francisco.

One of the newest members of the cities Board of Supervisors refuses to recite the Pledge of Allegiance!

"Yeah, there is no law requiring it and its not part of her employment so you are correct."

Civil Rights Attorney Kelly Saindon speaking with Rob Johnson at WGST in Atlanta, GA...

But Rob wanted to know - Is there anything that the people of San Francisco can do?

"Really all they can do is not put her in office again. But you know - you have to understand where they are coming from...  she's there in their stead - she's representing them - they believe in this country - they've engaged in the democratic process they've elected her into office, and she yeah I really don't want to participate."

District Six Supervisor Jane Kim believes that it's a personal decision of how to honor the flag and country and is very surprised of the criticism over her actions...

Buzzing right along...

Protests and chaos continues in Ciaro...

As Mubarak backers and opponents clash.

...but the outcome of the violence is not just going to effect Egypt...

<VIC P. WRPW>:

"A troubling situation in Egypt. Especially for two countries - one being the United States, and certainly Israel - threatened with being completely surrounded by enemies."

<CADEI>:

"Right, yes absolutely it is a concern. I think in Israel you're seeing a tremendous amount of concern right now because it's really Egypt and the peace accords - between Egypt and Israel have sort of created the foundations of the Middle East regional order we've seen over the last 30 years, and they've counted on having that border with Egypt being completely secure. So it is sort of a foundational crisis for Israel as well as Egypt."

That was Emily Cadei - a Foreign Policiy reporter for CQ Roll Call - speaking with Vic Porcelli at WRPW in Normal, IL...

The U.S. has a lot at stake with the outcome of all of this... but Israel... they have even more... And THEY will have to wait patiently to see how it plays out...
