35 years ago today, the famed Great Lakes freighter Edmund Fitzgerald sank in a gale on Lake Superior. All 29 on board died when the ship slid under the waves 17 miles from Whitefish Bay on November 10, 1975. @Twentyfour01 tweets "Odd coincidence! I was listening to Gordon Lightfoot on way in to work this am. Didn't know it was anniversary of the Edmund Fitzgerald." @krys_krys had the same idea, tweeting "Saw Edmund Fitzgerald trending and turned on the song."

Captain Samuel Nichols formed the first two brigades of the Contintental Marines in Philadelphia on November 10, 1775. @PastorBillings tweets "Happy birthday to all of the Marines; past, present, and future."
10 years ago this week, it was Florida and the "Hanging Chads"...today, it's Florida and the Rotating Chads. The Miami Dolphins announcing Wednesday that Chad Pennington is taking over as starting quarterback for the benched Chad Henne. The often-injured Pennington is making his first start since a season-ending shoulder injury in Week 3 last year. Always liked him," though @andyskillman thinks "Henne deserves more time."
