The radio buzz... the top talk radio stories of the day...

Off the wagon?

Fear not!!!'ll live LONGER than a NON DRINKER - that's what a new study shows from the journal - Alcoholism: Clinical and Experimental Research.

...with a MODERATE AMOUNT of alcohol consumption each day.

"This study specifically looked at the psychological components of drinking"

That was Dr. Suzanne Steinbaum - a Preventative Cardiologist at Lenox Hill Hospital - talking to Chip at KOGO in San Diego.

"It's so much about the socialization, and so much about what we do. You know - as you mentioned - the pub is where everyone hangs out. And what the study is suggesting - is that if you don't drink - maybe you're not part of the crowd, maybe you're not there hanging out with everyone else - and you're more socially isolated and perhaps depressed - and we know there is such a huge connection between the mind and the body. So this is not just about the alcohol - it's about what goes with it."

According to the research - "moderate drinking" is considered 1-3 glasses of alcohol a day.

And we buzz on:

President Obama speaks to the nation tonight - with focus in the Middle East.

Restarting talks between Israelis and Palestinians - and in Iraq - power being handed over today - as the US ends its combat role in Iraq.

Is Iraq ready?

That question asked of Chris Preble - Director of Foreign Policy Studies at the CATO Institute - by Steve at WERC.

His answer:

"I think that if Iraq is not ready - then it's solely the Iraqi's responsibility and not the United States."

Prebles concern?

The risk our troops are exposed to in this interim period as they drawn down to zero.
