Twoppics, the stories behind the hottest topics on Twitter.
Hot twoppic of the moment is "Golden Girl" Rue McClanahan, who died Thursday at the age of 76 after a massive stroke. McClanahan was famous for her role as the loveable and loose Blanche Devereaux on the '80s sitcom. "Golden Girls" is still shown in syndication...but Rue will be greatly missed.
Young or old, it seems all can agree that Detroit Tigers pitcher Armando Galarraga was deprived of a perfect game by a bad call made by first base umpire Jim Joyce. It was the last out of the game, a grounder fielded and thrown to first...the batter called safe. After reviewing the play, Joyce admitted "I just missed the damn call." Some Tigers fans calling for Joyce to get the boot. Baseball commissioner Bud Selig saying in a statement that although the game should have ended differently, he will not overturn the missed call to award Galarraga a perfect game, making umpire Jim Joyce your hot twoppic of the day.
Hot twoppic of the week is Joran Vandersloot who was wanted as the prime suspect in a Peruvian girls murder. He was found in a taxi cab in Chile, and was taken into custody on Thursday. Peru and Chile are working together to decide the next step. Vandersloot's lawyer says he has been falsely accused of murder before and has a bull's-eye on his back when it comes to allegations of foul play.
