Twoppics, the stories behind the hottest topics on twitter.
Are you one of those people who has tons of facebook friends? Your hot twoppic of the moment is Dunbar's Number, a theory from British anthropologist Robin Dunbar that says your brain can't handle more than 150 friends, and this theory extends to social networking. According to Dunbar, even if you have thousands of online friends, that number is meaningless as far as true friendships goes. Traffic data supports his theory - on facebook, no matter how many "friends" you have, you generally only keep up with the pages of a small inner circle.
Hot twoppic of the day is the New Orleans Saints - the team is going to the Super Bowl for the first time ever. Quarterback Drew Brees lead the team to a victory over the Minnesota Vikings. The Saints will take on Peyton Manning and the Indianapolis Colts in the Super Bowl, being held in Miami on February 7th.
The relief effort to help Haiti is ongoing - the celebrity telethon last Friday raised $58 million and counting. And American Idol mastermind Simon Cowell is putting together a charity single for Haiti relief with some big names -- Miley Cyrus, Mariah Carey, and Jon Bon Jovi will reportedly appear on a cover of R.E.M.'s "Everybody Hurts," along with Susan Boyle, Leona Lewis and Rod Stewart, making Haiti your hot twoppic of the week.
