An effigy of President Obama was found hanging from a building on Main Street in former President Jimmy Carter's hometown.

The U.S. Secret Service told The Associated Press that the black doll was discovered Saturday morning in Plains, GA next to a sign that says, "Plains, Georgia. Home of Jimmy Carter, our 39th President."

"We wish it hadn't happened," said Jan Williams in a story published by AJC.com. She manages the Plains Historic Inn -- just down the street from where they found the effigy. "It's not the kind of publicity the town of Plains likes."

Plains is a tiny South Georgia town of about 600 people and President Carter is about the only tourist attraction they have.

The doll was removed and the Secret Service is investigating.
