Homegrown horror leads the final FOXLight DVD release round-up of 2009. Taking the "Blair Witch" approach, the low-budget Paranormal Activity built its box office strictly by word of mouth, and follows a young couple in a new suburban sprawl that might have an occult-ish occupant.

Humanity is wiped out and only nine post-apocalyptic creatures and some fearsome machines remain, in 9. Not to be confused with the current movie musical, this 9 is computer animated with the voices of Elijah Wood, Jennifer Connelly and Christopher Plummer.

Megan Fox, no relation, is a demonically possessed cheerleader feeding off the boys in her Minnesota town in Jennifer's Body, written by Juno creator Diablo Cody who claimed The Lost Boys as her inspiration.

Also out this week...

Honeymooning backpackers Steve Zahn and Milla Jovovich see their Hawaiian hike go awry in A Perfect Getaway. Another newlywed couple is murdered, leaving them to team up with Timothy Olyphant and Kiele Sanchez for a game of "should I stay or should I go".

Hugely popular FOX-TV hit Glee - Season 1, Volume 1: Road To The Sectionals.

And Diablo Cody's other 2009 creation, cable hit United States of Tara: The 1st Season, featuring Golden Globe nominee Toni Collette as a suburban housewife with dissociative identity disorder.
