Folks who attend Fellowship Church in Dallas will be doing a lot more than fellowshipping over the next week. They're going to be tangling in the sheets -- for the Lord.
Pastor Ed Young is challenging his married parishoners to have sex for seven straight days -- and he plans to lead by example -- with his wife of 26 years. Fellowship Church is a non-denominational fellowship of some 20,000 members -- many of whom will be (ahem) doing the Lord's work over the next few days.
If you know someone who attends the church, you might want to call first before making dropping over for a visit.
Pastor Young told the Associated Press he believes it's time for Christians to reclaim sex for married couples -- blaming society for promoting promiscuity.
"God says sex should be between a married man and a woman," Young told the Associated Press. "I think it's one of the greatest things you can do for your kids because so goes the marriage, so goes the family."
I'm not too sure how around-the-clock-sex fits into his argument, but not many folks seem to be complaining. And there's a pretty good chance that about nine months from now, the church may need a bigger nursery.
For good measure, Pastor Young will deliver his challenge Sunday morning not from his pulpit -- but from a bed.
Maybe it's just me, but church sure has changed a lot since I was a kid.
Seven days of straight sex? You know, even the good Lord took one day off.
