Folks, I thought we had troubles on the East Coast, but the latest news coming from Los Angeles is simply incredible. Don't choke on your Filet-O-Fish, but the city council is considering a ban on fast food restaurants.
The ban would be in place for at least a year and would forbid people from building any type of fast food restaurant.
City Councilwoman Jan Perry doesn't believe the people living in her district are eating a well-balanced diet and she's blaming Burger King, McDonalds, Wendys, and Taco Bell. She believes the government has a responsibility to tell Americans what kind of businesses they can and cannot open.
Hmm. I must have missed that amendment to the Constitution -- the one about self-appointed food police terrorizing our refrigerators.
The last time I checked, it was perfectly legal for people to stuff themselves with as many Big Macs as they wanted -- health consequences be damned!
The ban would cover a 32-square mile area in south Los Angeles.
