Clear Channel Radio Listeners Benefit From Reporter's Heart Surgery

Sacramento, CA - When Todd Starnes, KFBK-AM Senior Reporter and weekend anchor was told he was headed for heart surgery, he made the generous decision to take his listening family along with him. Throughout his surgery and recovery, Starnes provided his listeners with a daily audio journal detailing the emotions and technicalities involved in replacing his aortic valve. In addition to the audio journal, the entire surgery was recorded and broadcast on KFBK.

The station received numerous letters and calls from listeners wanting more information on heart disease. The local American Heart Association was overwhelmed by response to the series and will be distributing it to other AHA chapters across California.

To further support the cause, Starnes and the staff at Clear Channel Radio-Sacramento have been inspired to get involved with the American Heart Association Heart Walk to raise money for heart research.
