The First Family has earned something of a reputation for being healthy eaters.
Mrs. Obama even has a vegetable garden and travels to schools across the country preaching about the virtues of bean sprouts.
So you would think that the White House Thanksgiving table would be piled high with arugula and to-furkey. (For you meat-lovers — that’s a turkey made out of tofu.)
But it turns out this year’s White House feast could very well clog an artery.
The menu includes cornbread stuffing, macaroni and cheese, sweet potatoes, mashed potatoes and dinner rolls.
There are six different kinds of pie — huckleberry, apple, cherry, banana cream, sweet potato and pumpkin.
The White House pastry chef tells the Obama Food-O-Rama website that his recipes are loaded with sugar and the pie crusts are made with butter and lard.
Chef Bill Yosses told the website he is no fan of “spa desserts” and uses sugar liberally in his treats.
Now I don’t care if you’re a Democrat or a Republican — but that sounds like some good eating!
