Texas Seminary Announces its Solidarity with Chick-fil-A

One of the world’s largest theological seminaries said it will demonstrate its solidarity with Chick-fil-A by purchasing chicken sandwiches for the entire campus.

Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in Fort Worth said it will join the nationwide initiative launched by Fox News Channel host Mike Huckabee to “eat more chicken” on Aug. 1 — declared Chick-fil-A Appreciation Day.

Huckabee was honored as a distinguished alumnus of Southwestern in June.

“Southwestern Seminary wants to encourage Chick-Fil-A’s support of the traditional family and the first amendment right of Dan Cathy to live out his religious beliefs,” said Thomas White, vice president for student services and communications. “We gladly partner with organizations like Chick-Fil-A who take a stand for faith, and we will also be providing all of our students with Chick-Fil-A sandwiches during our all-campus picnic in September.”

Southwestern is one of the largest seminaries in the world with more than 3,500 students, faculty and staff. It is an agency of the Southern Baptist Convention.
